Hi, I am Amira Shah, Certified Counsellor & psychotherapist

Harness your inner strength. Shape your future.

Therapist for Women In-Person in Port Credit & Online Across Ontario

It often feels like you’re just going through the motions—not actually living.

Maybe you’ve had some experiences you’d rather forget, but that continue to show up in your thoughts anyway. Or maybe it seems like you’re always doing something wrong—according to either the people around you or the voice in your own mind.

It’s hard to feel hopeful about the future when your relationships are disappointing, your daily life is filled with stress and worry, and your inner monologue criticizes your every move. Now, you want to break the cycles you’re stuck in so you can move forward and feel more connected to who you are and what you want out of life.

Specializing in…

My Approach

Supporting you through the process of self-discovery.

I want to empower you to draw upon your strengths & overcome the challenges you’re facing.

In our sessions, you can expect a safe, inclusive, judgment-free space. You’ll feel comfortable sharing your thoughts and feelings knowing you’ll always be met with compassion and understanding.

Together, we’ll work toward healing from past traumas, learning how to set and maintain boundaries and communicate more effectively, and developing healthy ways to move through challenges and change. Over time, I hope to help you cultivate a sense of compassion for yourself, trust in your abilities, and belief in your worthiness.

The work we do together will be customized to your individual goals, strengths, and experiences, but one common thread in all the work I do is that I help women explore their individual identities. Once you’ve reflected on and feel confident in your values, beliefs, and cultural identity, you’ll be able to connect to a deep sense of self to help guide you forward.

I like to describe therapy as you in the driver’s seat, driving to your desired future, and me in the passenger seat, helping to navigate and motivating you to keep going. To make real change in your life, you’ll need to take real action—and I’m here to guide and support you along the way.

  • A type of therapy that helps individuals cope with painful or troubling memories by using bilateral stimulation techniques to help the brain process the memories differently. Click here to learn more.

  • Somatic therapy is a body-based approach that helps you reconnect with your nervous system and release stored stress and trauma.

Instead of focusing only on thoughts, we gently work with physical sensations, emotions, and patterns held in the body - supporting deeper healing and a greater sense of calm, safety, and control.

  • This approach focuses on understanding and regulating your nervous system responses, especially in anxiety, trauma, and chronic stress.

You’ll learn how your body responds to safety and threat, and develop tools to feel more calm, stable, and in control in your daily life.

  • Attachment-focused trauma therapy explores how early relationships and life experiences shape your emotional patterns, relationships, and sense of self.

My intake sessions are grounded in an attachment-based approach, where we gently explore how anxiety, trauma, and childhood experiences may be impacting your relationships today - whether with parents, partners, or your children.

We first focus on building safety, trust, and connection before moving into deeper trauma processing.

This foundation supports more secure relationships, emotional regulation, and lasting healing.

  • Parts work recognizes that different “parts” of you hold different emotions, experiences, and protective roles.

This approach helps you understand and gently work with these parts, supporting integration, emotional balance, and healing from past experiences.

  • Mindfulness and body-based practices help you stay present, grounded, and connected to your body.

These techniques support emotional regulation, reduce anxiety, and create a sense of calm and awareness in everyday life.
